Biodiversity around us!

About 100 kms from Guwahati, is Shillong a place often called the 'Scotland of the East'. Shillong is the State capital of Meghalaya. The place is surrounded by majestic mountains and thunderous waterfalls. The curve roads and lofty mountains are a splendid view and soothing to the eyes.

Cherrapunji or Sohra is the place where we have the highest rainfall in the world.

This image is a concern towards saving the biodiversity around us. A cement factory is in the background of the picture.

On our recent visit we have had a wonderful outing to this wonderful place on earth.

PALOMBARA SABINA AND ITS  MONTI LUCRETILI

Monti Lucretili

Gennaro Mountain

Palombara Sabina lies at the foot of Monte Gennaro and it is situated in the Natural park of Monti Lucretili. Very often we go to visit the park with our teachers to know the different biodiversity of this beautiful place. We have always interesting, lovely moments in meeting birds and the different flora of the park.

These are some berries we can find at Monti Lucretili, they are the food of some birds living there as greattit, nuthatch, blackcap, jay and so on...

Some tips to be a good birdwatcher

If you want to learn and to know the secrets of nature, you must first respect all its aspects.
These are some important rules to follow in order to meet some of the inhabitants of the park:
  • if you want to meet the animals living in the woods, natural parks, gardens in cities and in the countryside, first you need to avoid  making unnecessary noise  that could disturb the quiet of nature.
  • in a natural environment, but also  in that one in which we live, plants and flowers must be respected, so avoid picking flowers or damage the trees.
  • leaving the waste during a trip is a wrong behavior, because  what you leave in  the places it stays for a long time and pollute the environment. Bring bags with you and fill them with your garbage and then throw them in the containers.
  • do not light fires, a small distraction can cause the destruction of forests and the death of   its inhabitants.
